Growing up, I was not an athlete or “sporty”. Since I was not good at sports, I assumed I was not athletic. In my last year of high school, I realized I was actually quite coordinated and good at Pilates and different types of body weight exercises. Fast forward, I’m now a mom of 3 kids who keep me and my husband busy with soccer, ballet, Jiu-jitsu and other extra curriculars. When my boys first started training Jiu-jitsu at Rise, I loved the atmosphere and the amazing sense of community at the gym, along with the character development and discipline it taught them. It was also an incredible source of exercise but watching them I said that I would never do that! Never say never I guess, because 6 months later I was hooked myself! It was so interesting to watch myself grow in confidence in not only my physical strength and body, but in so many other aspects of my life. Now almost my whole family is training at Rise, and when we aren’t at the gym, we enjoy hanging out with friends and family, going for walks and bike rides, playing board games, or having family movie nights.
